Representation Terms of Agreement

1. Introduction

Welcome to Feather & Lawry Gallery. We are a Toowoomba-based commercial gallery representing a select group of artists connected to the Toowoomba region.
These Terms and Conditions outline the guidelines, responsibilities, and expectations between Feather & Lawry Gallery (“the Gallery”) and represented artists (“the Artist”).

By submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) or entering into a representation agreement with the Gallery, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.

2. The Gallery

Feather & Lawry Gallery is dedicated to celebrating local creative talent and offers a curated selection of artwork to collectors, art lovers, and design clients.
Our physical gallery is located at 4 Russell Street, Toowoomba, Queensland, and is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. We also operate an online gallery via www.featherandlawrygallery.com.au.

In addition to gallery representation, we promote and connect our artists with the wider art and design community through:

  • Social media and newsletter promotion

  • Advertising and networking events

  • Online gallery listings and sales

  • Collaborative design projects with Feather & Lawry Design clients

  • Exhibition opportunities and artist features

3. Representation Period & Fees

Artist representation runs for a 12-month period, from February to January, with renewals processed each February.

Artists seeking representation are required to pay an annual representation fee of $440 (GST inclusive), which covers:

  • Exhibition and display opportunities in the gallery at 4 Russell Street, Toowoomba

  • Exposure to Feather & Lawry Design’s interior and architecture client base

  • Eligibility for artwork commissions and project-specific opportunities

  • Ongoing communication via face-to-face meetings, phone, or email

  • Promotion through the Gallery’s website, online shop, newsletters, and social media

  • Access to potential external exhibition opportunities when available

Payment Options

  • Representation fees are payable annually upon renewal.

  • Artists may opt to pay quarterly; however, a $40 discount applies for full annual payment.

  • An invoice will be issued upon acceptance of representation, with prompt payment required.

4. Expression of Interest Process

  1. Submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) form constitutes an application for consideration only.

  2. The Gallery reviews all submissions to determine suitability for representation.

  3. Upon receipt of the EOI and supporting materials, the Gallery may request a physical viewing of artworks.

  4. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised promptly.

  5. Successful applicants will receive an Artist Representation Agreement for review and signature.

  6. Once the signed agreement is returned, the Gallery will issue an invoice for the representation fee.

  7. Representation commences upon receipt of payment.

5. Sales & Commissions

Feather & Lawry Gallery receives a 40% commission on the floor price of each artwork sold through the gallery, website, or associated projects.

  • The remaining 60% is remitted to the Artist following full payment from the purchaser.

  • The Gallery absorbs transaction surcharges on card payments (excluding American Express).

  • All pricing and sale arrangements are coordinated between the Gallery and the Artist to ensure alignment with market expectations.

6. Media & Marketing

By joining Feather & Lawry Gallery’s represented artist collective, you grant the Gallery permission to:

  • Photograph, reproduce, and use images of your artworks for promotional purposes

  • Feature your work on the Gallery’s website, social media, newsletters, advertising, and other publicity materials

  • Use installation or exhibition photography that includes your work

These images may be used at the Gallery’s discretion for marketing and communications purposes.
Artists retain copyright of their works at all times, and all image use will be for promotional and non-exclusive purposes.

7. Artist Online Presence & Social Media

We encourage artists to maintain an active and professional online presence.
If you have an Instagram account or other professional profile, you are required to include the following acknowledgment in your bio:

Represented by Feather & Lawry Gallery, Toowoomba QLD

This ensures consistency and helps audiences connect your work directly to the gallery.
The Gallery may tag and share artist social media content where appropriate.

8. Artist Responsibilities

Represented artists agree to:

  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with the Gallery and clients.

  • Supply high-quality images and information for promotional use.

  • Notify the Gallery of any new works, exhibitions, or creative developments.

  • Ensure that artworks submitted for exhibition or sale are original and owned by the Artist.

  • Deliver artworks in a ready-to-display condition (framed, wired, or appropriately presented).

  • Respect exclusivity terms as outlined in their individual Artist Agreement, where applicable.

9. Gallery Responsibilities

The Gallery agrees to:

  • Promote and exhibit the Artist’s work to the best of its ability.

  • Manage all client communications, sales, and artwork installations.

  • Provide transparent reporting and timely payment for sold works.

  • Maintain professionalism in representing and marketing the Artist.

10. Termination or Non-Renewal

Either party may choose not to renew representation at the end of the 12-month term.
Should either party wish to terminate representation early, written notice of 30 days must be provided.
Outstanding fees or commissions will be settled prior to finalisation of the agreement.
